Pune is a second largest city of Maharashtra and ninth largest metropolis in India. Pune is situated 560 metres above sea level at the bank of Mula and Mutha river. Pune is a cultural and administrative capital of Maharashtra. Pune serves the large student population which makes a lively night life along with vibrant atmosphere. Pune Airport:-

Pune Airport is a civil enclave which is operated by Airport Authority Of India. In Pune the same airport handles both Domestic and International flights. The two international destinations served by Pune Airport are to Frankfurt which is operated by Lufthansa, and to Dubai which is operated by Air India Express.

The runway of Pune Airport is 2535 metre long whereas the secondary runway is used as a taxiway by IAF, and is constructed by AAI to serve civil operation on southern side. In the year 1997 this airport was declared as Customs Airport and is used for export of specified goods. After this at the ending of 2005 this airport was notified as International Airport by the clearance of baggage and passengers.

Around 100 crore is planned to invest on the modernisation of this Airport in 2008 before Commonwealth Youth Games, and this modernisation includes:

• 2 new terminal buildings for departure and arrival of international passengers
• New parallel taxi track
• 2 aero bridges
• A Moden Spa
• Expansion of apron
• New Conveyor Belt

Pune Airport is located in Lohegaon which also houses an Air Force Station which is the oldest establishment of Indian Air Force. In future AAI is planning to invest 20 crore for various expansions like:

• 3 administrative complex near the entrance of the airport terminal building
• New hangars for private aircraft
