About Begumpet:

Begumpeth is one of the neighborhood in Hyderabad, which is situated in the adjoining areas. The twin city of Hyderabad which is Secunderabad, is an extension of Hyderabad and falls in the north sector. One major road of Secunderabad which is Bowanpalli road, provides an access to Begumpet from Hyderabad. It is a small locality which marks boundary between Hyderabad city and Secunderabad. The growth of commercial activities further in the north sector of Hyderabad, has made Begumpet a most popular area in city.



Landmarks Of Begumpet:

The most significant landmark of this suburb is the Provision of Airport. Begumpet Airport is now closed for commercial flights, only training and chartered flights are operating from here. It serves both national and international airport terminals, which makes it a path to gateway in to Andhra Pradesh as well as in to South Of India. This airport serves both the twin cities viz Hyderabad and Secunderabad and also many other districts of the state. Some other famous landmarks of Begumpet are Shopper's stop, Country Club, Paigah Palace, Hyderabad Public School, and a department store chain. A tallest building in South India, known as Jaal Mahal of 13 floors, was also there at Begumpet. It was then destroyed by Aurangzeb, who was the last Mughal Emperor.

History:

The name of this suburb is derived from the name of daughter of sixth Nizam. Her name was Basheer Ui-Unnisaa Begum, and she received this land as a dowry in her wedding with second Amir of Paigah. Later on this land was received by Shahzadi Jahandaar un-nisa begum, for her Paandaan Ka Kharcha, and she was a daughter of H. H. Nawab Afzal ud Dowla Bahadur.

When looks from outside, Begumpet looks like an urban centre along with many things happening round the clock. This suburb is crowded by many government establishments and private enterprises, private schools, medical centres, shopping markets and so on. It also hosts some sites with hostorical importance, and are mostly visited by tourists. Sir Ronald Ross Institute, which was built in 1895 is a best example of this, as it is one of the famous study centre also served as military hospital in past. Many software companies are also located in Begumpet.
